NBCDI launched its’ Virtual Learning Series with a powerful discussion featuring Senior Leadership. The discussion centered on NBCDI’s Eight Essential Outcomes for Black Child Development and setting the stage for bold action in 2025.

Vice President of Policy and Research Alycia Hardy highlighted  Afrofuturism—one of NBCDI’s core values—as a call to envision a liberated future where Black children thrive.

Director of Communications Ariana Santiago-Thomas shared how NBCDI has been listening to communities nationwide, and will continue providing resources on federal orders and policies affecting safe communities, health, education, and nutrition.

Vice President of Strategy and Movement Building Rev. Terrence McKinley reinforced that in addition to programs — true systems change requires people, interventions, practices, and policies—not just programs. He also emphasized the importance of representation in books and toys to support Black children’s confidence and identity.

📌 NBCDI’s 2025 Priorities:

✅ Black Child Safety: Mobilizing leaders nationwide to create safe communities, schools, and digital spaces.
✅ Family Empowerment Program: Reimagined to the priorities
✅ Water Justice: Advocating for clean water access as a fundamental human right.
✅ Afrofuturism and Systems Change: Reclaiming Mental Models for Child Well-Being: Launching a visionary paper to drive innovation and advocacy. 
✅ National Conference: Convening critical conversations in Atlanta, Georgia October 24-26, 2025. Registration opens in April 2025.
