Bibliography

NBCDI’s quarterly publication Child Health Talk includes a feature entitled “Between the Covers,” which provides readers with a wide range of age appropriate, multi-cultural books that celebrate diversity and the African-American experience.

Recent articles have focused on “Great New Titles for Summer Readers,” “A Celebration of Harlem,” and “Grandparents.”  Jointly written by Dr. Vivian G. Johnson from Marygrove College in Detroit and Dr. Jonella A. Mongo and Dr. Toni S. Walters from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, “Between the Covers” has provided parents, caregivers and teachers with hundreds of suggestions for building their libraries and helping their children experience the joy of reading.

NBCDI is working to compile a searchable database of all the books that have been recommended through “Between the Covers,” which will be available to all of our members and friends.  Please check back soon for this database, and in the meantime, browse current and archived issues of Child Health Talk for  suggestions to keep you and your kids reading!
